PARKERSBURG – Poca High School has become the 17th member of the Little Kanawha Conference.
During Monday’s LKC spring meeting, the Dots were accepted on a partial status in 2024-25 before becoming a full member in 2025-26.
Howard Meeks, the athletic director at St. Marys who was re-elected for a two-year term as president along with Ravenswood’s Wes Swain (vice president), Wirt County’s Eric Cheeseman (treasurer) and Tyler Consolidated’s Ryan Walton (secretary), said the Dots immediately will be able to participate in conference tournaments where there is a single champion.
Poca student-athletes will compete in golf, cross country, track and wrestling. The Dots also will be eligible for team championships in those sports.
“Nothing changes schedule-wise until (next) spring and then 2025 and on for the fall,” said Meeks, who noted along with scheduling in August the current officers as well as fellow athletic directors Shawn Krajeski (Clay County), Chris Wells (Ritchie County), Jill Bryant (Williamstown) and Scott Robey (Doddridge County) will meet in June to start looking at current conference alignments from 2025 and beyond.
